I understand the reasoning behind this theory, but if you ask anyone on the street if they'd rather pay 2% more or 2% less for something, they would choose 2% less. I'm curious how the economy would work if the Fed did not provide inflation targets / kept it a mystery and allowed a small amount deflation (i.e. -2%)
